After participating in the #tezos4tezos event over the weekend, I woke up finding out that one of the collectors, TomiVisual, put my work in an exhibition that he curated. It is very cool seeing my NFT in Metaverse. More importantly, this is an example of what Web3 decentralization truly means. Any artists and collectors today can “go rogue” and express their own points of view and put their own tastes on display for the world to see.
Many people focus on the unreasonably high-priced pieces or the silly “artworks” that are basically mockeries. Decentralization means we will see a whole range of the good, the bad, and the ugly. But, I believe there is great value in people being able to express themselves through art collecting and making personal statements on what they believe art is. I am not suggesting art criticism is dead. There will be dealers, galleries, critics, and curators for crypto arts to promote and support the ecosystem at the top level. What’s happening here is just a simple fact that experts will no longer be the only ones with microphones. Over time, the hype will die down and real art will live on. We are living through a new age of a decentralization revolution.
